Christmas photos for greeting cards

I'm not positive this is the category for this question, but here goes.

I made some greeting cards out of my photos and offered them to a local pet store. They said they liked them but couldn't buy anything non-Christmas related right now. They said if I did some Christmas-themed cards of the same quality, they'd buy them.

Well, the problem is that I'm using my dog and cat as models. My house is no where near "greeting card" worthy. So they have to be super-close-up and I'm not coming up with very many good "poses" that are super-close-up.

My question is, what do you think about putting up a white, red, or green sheet as a backdrop? Is that totally amateur and tacky? Do I need a real photo screen as a backdrop?

Thanks for any thoughts!

Or, maybe, a Christmas themed cheap table cloth would work, too?

As long as you're doing this in your home, sheets are fine. I would use white, since it's less distracting. You can always remove the white background in photoshop and add color. How about wrapping a big box in Christmas wrap, and putting the cat and/or dog (depending on how they get along) in the box, peeking out? Or a sleeping pet with a bow on the back (similar to the baby photos we've seen).

Goodluck. sounds like you've found a good niche!
