Photography Question

Photoshop or Photoimpact?

I have been using Photoimpact (by Ulead) for several years now. I have been using it since version 3.1 was released and now am up to version 6. I also have Photoshop LE, and the full version of Photoshop 5.0. I know that PS is the industry standard for most, but what are the main differences? There are some things that I want to do that I think PS may do that PI won't. I have tried to use PS before, but the terminology in it is very different from PI. Is it worth the time to learn how to use PS? I know several people that say not to, and a few people that say that PS is 100x better, but these are just very casual image editors. I am doing a lot of semi professional imaging on the internet and it seems that sometimes it just takes too long to do something with PI and I wonder if PS would be better.

I would love any advice or comparisons. You can leave a comment here or email me at benji70@charter.net

Thanks

One thing in favor of Photoshop (also applies to LE) is that there is a lot of good information out there on even basic Photoshop. The magazine edigitalphoto is just one source. All the writers talk in terms of Photoshop. The Idiots' Guide and similar titles are actually quite helpful. Also, for web imaging, Photoshop's JPEG algorithms work extremely well, which is not to say that PI's don't.
