Photography Question

Jeff Norman

1D or 20D?

I shoot sports, and am currently contemplating buying either the original 1D used or a new 20D. The only thing that makes me reluctant to go with the 1D is the 4.15 megapixels compared to the 8.3 megapixels. What camera would you reccomend and why? The megapixels of course would hurt the amount I can crop, and how large I can print the pictures. Printing is not an issue, but the cropping may be.

The megapixel question would be based on what you want to use the photos for. If you use them for personal purposes and do not ever need to blow images up than the 1D would be fine.

I would tend to lean toward the 20D though if the prices are similar. It is a great camera and it has a lot of different updated features.

Well, of course the 1D is more expensive by a few hundred dollars to the 20D. And I shoot for major newspapers, but of course their use of the pictures never requires them to blow up pictures. I shoot completely with Canon L glass, so sharpness isn't a big problem; I was just wondering what people thought.
