Where to order holiday cards?

When photographers offer holiday cards, do they make their own or use a template such as ones offered on snapfish? I need help!

I think creating your own design would be most beneficial to you instead of using a generic one that has been recycled thoussands of times and doesn't stand out. Adobe Illustrater and Photoshop are powerfull programs that I use to create custom designs.

Ryan, I have PSE3 and would love to create my own. Can you maybe give me the cliff notes version on how to do that? Do I then submit as a "photo" to the company that does my printing? I really do agree about everyone having the same ones, I would so much like to do my own but not sure where to start.

thanks,
Lisa

Unfortunatly I've never used Elements but I'll assume it's relativly the same as Photoshop. The times I have created origional artwork on the computer I started with a pen sketch. I then scanned it into the computer and used it as a background (or template) in Illustrator. Then depending on the style I would use the paintbrush or pen tool to trace the image on a new layer. With a digital copy I would then use Photoshop to create colors, gradients, effects and just about any other tool I felt like to get what I wanted. (I could also use Illustrator for most of the effects for a smoother vector based graphic compared to pixels in Photoshop). I know this seems vague but these are the basic stepping stones I use to create an origional piece. I hope this gives you a starting point!

Hi Lisa. ..I have Elements 3.0 and you can do your own cards. . . just open your Elements and make a new blank canvas that is 8x4 or 4 x 8 depending on if you want horizontal or vertical cards. The only thing is you would have to know how to do the graphics as Ryan mentions above. You can add clip art if you can find a good site or something but alot of times it looks pixelated when you add it unless it's a really big resolution file. .. here is one that I did for my son as a 4-H Thanks you!
