Photography Question

Get whole picture in focus

Canon Rebel EOS XT

Have taken pictures with two children and a pumpkin in the picture but the pumpkin is the only thing in focus. How do I get the whole picture in focus?

  Try the "DEP" mode.

Plus focus on the kids and not the pumpkin

If you have the opportunity to retake the shot stop down your aperture (a higher #) which will reduce the images depth of field making the whole image in focus.

I am going to retake the shots this week. I have been playing with the camera. I turned the dial to AV to change the aperture but now the shutter speed is too slow.

Can I use landscape? What is the best way to change the aperture.

Thanks

Marsha

use manual mode. First figure out the arpeture then the shutter speed, then replicate them in manual mode...or just use ADEP mode. Were you only using the center focus dot when you took the shot? also, did you just point the center focus on the pumkin? and is your AF in one shot mode or in something else? Youll get it, keep trying!
