Photography Question

Elisabeth A. Gay

For those of us with four eyes...

I saw a comment on another site saying that people with astigmatism (such as myself) should wear their glasses when using the viewfinder. I've always thought that getting really tack sharp images was a bit hit and miss with my work, and always take my glasses off (well, I've graduated to no line bifocals now :( ) when I'm shooting. I have never been quite sure that the diopter on my Digital Rebel was set perfectly, it looked different every time I tried to set it. So today I took a shot with my glasses on. I use manual focus most of the time. I posted the picture today (Kissing Quakers). It was shot in RAW, and I am quite sure it looked sharper before I started processing it in PS than other pics I've done. What do any of you who wear glasses generally do?

All of my cameras are SLR's and the lenses are manual-focus and incorporate focusing aids so it's pretty easy to lock on to critical focus without my glasses.
I tried shooting with glasses on but the right side got all scratched from repeated contact with the eyepiece.
Now, I always carry my glasses with one of those straps around my neck, to be used only when I need to see the controls or to see how many frames I have left.
(...It's no fun getting old.) :(

Hmm, I'm not old, I just had the 11th anniversary of my 39th birthday ;) So maybe I was just being more conscious of focussing properly - I found it darned awkwad with my glasses on!!

  I'm not old either.
I always tell folks I'm "pushin' 40".
(I just don't tell them from which direction.)

Auto focus, Always wear my glasses.
Annie I may be wrong, but I think they (I know who's they, don't know LOL) make adapters with your precription, for your view lens. :o)

Gee Elizabeth and Bob, you are both a lot older than I am. I'm only 29. Come January, I will be celebrating the 26th anniversary of that illustrious occasion! (OK, I started lying a lot younger than you folks did.)

Well, kids, I tried wearing my glasses and I swear (I'm old enough to!) the pictures ARE sharper! I'm using a Canon Digital Rebel. Ah well, whatever works, right!! :)
