Photography Question

the fan test

I'd like to know your results of the fan test [WITHOUT USING THE FLASH].
In it, you increase the shutter speed until the blades are frozen while the fan is turned full power. Obviously, not all fans are the same; thus, you start with lets say 1/30, and then stop at the point the blades are frozen(1/500, etc.).
If using a P&S, change the shooting modes (sports, beach, etc.)

He's telling you what his results were of his fan test. He got an A+. You nailed the "theory". A fast shutter speed will stop the blades and a slower one will cause the moving blur. Right on the money!

  It depends, of course.
Meanwhile, I'm not sure what the point is here.... I'm sure the results would be quite different on my 6" desk fan and my 24" box fan, which would be different from my ceiling fan...... A dozen different fan types would likely yield at least as many different answers.

Are you doing a survey of fan speeds? Or is their some subtlety I'm missing?
