Double Moon in Lens??


 
 
I tried taking pix of the full moon last night - disaster - but also got a double image!!! Using Sigma 18 -200 and tripod - Any explanations?

would've been too faint to see it if you would've exposed the moon right.

  Thanks Greg - I used a 10sec exp. F9.5 200mm flength and ISO 200 - what or how does one expose for the moon and not get the mist/haze - or is my lens too small? It was so big even I could see the craters through the viewfinder!!

I read sometime ago (somewhere on this site) you would expose for the moon using the Sunny 16 rule. The moon was still so big and bright last night that I thought I'd try it myself. I tried several different settings but this one worked the best. The camera was set at f16, 1/100sec., at ISO 100.
