Amber & Neon Green Photos - HELP!

Help!
I need my pictures for eBay and am really getting frustrated with what is coming out of my UMAX AstraCam. I know this isn't the cream of the crop, but it has been a good little trooper so far.
All of a sudden my photos (in all modes) are coming out either neon green or amber yellow. This does not bode well for my sales if customers cannot see what my items really look like. I emailed the maker, but they want me to make the $20 phone call and we are into the weekend.
Someone please give me a clue as to what I did or didn't do to create this problem.
Thanks,
Sharin

I don't have this camera but was able to download the manual from UMAX's site. Here are a few things I discovered:

1. Are you using NiMH "AAA" cells? The manual is very specific about this and _NOT_ using alkalines! Although this is more a charger issue (the cradle) and the possibility of exploding alkalines when it tries to recharge them, alkalines also have a gradual voltage falloff as they are used. The camera may not work very well with alkalines when they reach about half or more discharge.

Try resetting everything in all the camera functions and removing the batteries for about a half hour (assuming there is no CMOS memory with internal battery backup). Then turn it back on again. Ensure you have set the white balancing properly! It has several settings for tungsten, fluorescent and other lighting. Ensure it is set for daylight as a starter.

Last, ensure your software for downloading the photographs is properly configured looking specifically at any special effects features and set them to a "default" for daylight and normal photographs.

If you are still getting green and amber pictures I fear you have a problem with the camera. If it's still under warranty, contact UMAX. If not, then the cost of repair is likely more in time and money than the cost of buying another. UMAX is selling AstraCam's (close-out?) for $60 each on their web site.
