Flash bracket a worthwhile investment? I was considering buying a flashbracket for my Rebel XT and the 430 speedlite that I've recently purchased. I was hoping this would greatly improve my candid portraits by moving the lighting source further from the camera. But someone told me it would only eliminate red eye. I am finding red eye to be a very occasional problem that is easily corrected in PS, so I don't want to spend $200 on the bracket and cord if that's all it will accomplish. Thanks!

$200.00????????? WOW . I paid less then $100.00 for mine here in Virginia. However, it is great for shooting vertical shots and not getting any shadows like you do if your flash is camera mounted. IT IS ALSO SOOOOOOOOO GREAT TO CARRY THE WHOLE DARN THING! good luck!

Still, the exchange rate is only about 5 to 4. For about $115 Canada you should be able to get a basic bar frame flash bracket and a short sync cord. Save the Toonies for the weekend. Thanks, Walrath Photographic Imaging

Well if we are going to get technical, I phoned around, the cheapest frame is $115, sync cord $40 plus GST and PST, that totals $176.70. Not alot of money to some people but considering I've already spent an awful lot on camera, flash and accesories these past few months, I was just wondering whether this is something else worth investing in and if it will greatly improve the quality of my flash pictures?

I recently bought a stroboframe and cord for my nikon, and LOVE it. Not easy to drag around just for fun on a naormal day, but when actually working doing potraits (I shot a wedding and reception with it, plus senior and family protraits) it was fabulous, and the pictures turned out great. So nice to be able to keep the flash over the camera for vertical shots, without trying to hold the flash in one hand and the camera in another. No red eye (which really isn't much of a problem anyway) but also the light seems more balanced. People will tell you to get a diffuser for the flash too, but that's another decision. I know someone on the site will do anything to avoid using a frame, but he also has an assistant to carry and hold things for him. As a single person operation, this frame was worth the money. Definitely recommend.
