Canon Elan 7 & 7ne

I'm looking at buying a camera in the Elan series and I was wondering what is the difference between the Canon Elan 7 and the 7NE?
Also, has anyone used the Tamron 28-300mm 3.5/6.3 lens?
Thanks for any info!

"E" models have Eye-Control Focus, non-E do not.
The Elan 7/7E was introduced in 2000. The 7N/7NE was a revision introduced in 2004 that added a backlight to the LCD display, some cosmetic changes (such as raised letters on the command dial), and revised algorithms for the autofocus and flash exposure control.

While I've never looked into it myself I've heard this from someone on another thread. (I have the 7E, awesome camera) From what I was told the 7 & 7E are the first generation, 7 being what it is and 7E having Eye control. In 2004 they released second generation of 7N & 7NE. I remember this by N standing for "new" lol and E being for "eye" control. Hope this helps.
