How to begin in Wedding Photography

I have had a photography business out of my home for a couple of years. I am ready to try my hand at small wedding photography. I shoot with a digital Canon Rebel EOS. What other equipment will I needed in order to shoot weddings professionally? What is the best way to market myself? I have had several portrait sessions with brides but I haven't shot a wedding in order to have photos in my portfolio. I know that is important for brides to see. How do I get around that?
Thanks for your help...exicted to get some great advice for the experts.

There are a couple of ways to get around not having a wedding portfolio. One is to stage a wedding. Many photographers have done this to have the perfect couple and the perfect photos for advertising purposes. I don't recommend this as your clients will expect you to make them look like that perfect couple. Another way is to find someone getting married and offer to shoot their wedding for free. (Find someone who is tight on money. I would hate for you to give someone who has the money but is just cheap the free service.) You will both benefit fro the job.
