please someone help! I have been asked to take photos of my daughters basketball games and I have very little experience using a digital camera. All of my previuos sport photography experience has been with a traditionl 35mm SLR. I am borrowing a friends canon digital rebel because my camera was stolen and my attempts today to take photos at the basketball game resulted in horrible results. Can anyone, in basic terms, please adives me how to set up this camera (and I mean basic terms) I have 3 lens to choice from...75-300, 35-80 and 18-55. Please help becasue the season is winding down and I need photos!!!!!!

You forgot to mention your lens speeds. What are the max aps on your lenses. (The 75-300) will probably be your best bet but if it's a 4.5-5.6 that's not very fast so you're going to have to bump your ISO due to the slow lens yielding grainy, errr...noisy :-) photos. It's going to be the same approach as traditional 35mm but all your film is already loaded into your camera. Depending on the shutter speeds your getting with your lens you'll have to decide the right "film" in your camera (speed, saturation levels, white balance...etc.)Being digital it should be slightly easier than film because if you aren't getting the speeds you want, then just up the ISO.

And don't forget about "shutter lag" ..on digital, it's a fraction of a second after you push the button until it captures the image..not like film where you push the button and the shutter clicks immediately.
I use the digital rebel...probably be best to set it to "sports mode" where the camera automatically/continually focuses (bring a backup battery!!), sets the iso and exposure all at the same time. All you do is compose the shot.
Hope this helps,
Bob
