I will be attending a outdoors concert tommorow in NYC and I have no idea what I should set my film camera too. I have a Canon Rebel G with a 28-80mm lens and a 75-300mm lens depending how far back I am. I will be useing ISO 200 speed film.

and with useing 200 speed, I am not sure what to set it too. Can anyone help my urgent question? Thanks for reading.

You should use faster film. Try using 800 speed film, set your camera to Av mode. Then set your aperture to the lowest f-stop (largest aperture) that your lens has (like 3.5 or 5.6). The camera meter will select the shutter speed for you.

At 200 ISO, you would need to use very slow shutter speeds to get a proper exposure. Even if you use a tripod, the subjects moving on stage will be blurred.

I am assuming that you will not be close enough for your flash to be effective. Unless you have a strong external flash (not the built-in flash) AND you will be in the front row, this will be true.

If you can't buy faster film, I think you're only other option is to push the 200 film. This means you will load the 200 film in the camera, then set your camera to Av mode, and then manually set the ISO speed on your camera to 800. Then follow the shooting instructions I gave above. NOTE: You will not be able to change the ISO if you are in Auto (green box) mode.

If you use more than 1 roll of film, be sure to change the ISO after loading each roll, the camera will probably reset it to match the film.

When it's time to develop the film, you will need to find a lab that will "Push Process the film by two stops". Some drugstore-type labs can't do this, some won't do this. You may need to take the film to a pro lab and spend a few extra bucks.

Good luck.

Chris

Yeah...you're not going to get very far with 200 speed film at night...the best film to use outdoors is 400 or 800 speed.
You can't just run somewhere and purchase a different speed film?
