20D lens mount

Hi! I thought I had heard that older manual focus lenses could be mounted on the 20D. Is this true or is it only EF and EF-S? I know Nikon does some of this stuff but I thought there was something about the 20D that could do this. I'm mostly looking for a 50mm lens with a distance/depth of field scale without paying for the EF 50mm f/1.4. I already have the f/1.8.

Thanks!

Look used for the first generation EF 50 f/1.8 (referred to as Mark I though it doesn't actually carry that designation). It has a focus distance scale with a minimal Depth of Field scale (f/11 and 22) and infrared focus mark. See http://www.canon.com/camera-museum/camera/lens/ef/data/ef_50_18.html It usually sells for ~$100-$150, a little more than the current EF 50 f/1.8 II new, but still a great value.

EOS cameras (EF and EF/EF-S) can mount manual focus lenses with an adpater. There are adpaters for Canon's old FD/FL lenses as well as manual focus lenses for some other makes (Nikon, Yashica/Contax/Zeiss, Pentax M42 screw mount, Olympus OM, etc.). Some adapters (especially for Canon FD/FL) require optical elements to maintain infinity focus, which necessarily act as a 1.26x teleconverter with corresponding loss of sharpness and reduced maximum effective aperture. In all cases the functionality of the lens is limited to stop-down metering - no open-aperture metering or auto aperture actuation.
