Celing Mounts for Lighting I am going to be investing in some studio lights soon...hopefully. I have a very small studio, about 12x12 and am currently tripping over stuff without adding more stands to hold lights. So, I am wondering if anyone out there has any experience with the rail systems to mount your lights from the ceiling. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Also, I am lookint at alienbees.com for the lights, thoughts on that would be great as well. Thanks in advance.

Denny Manufacturing is a good source for rail systems. They are rather expensive, but once installed, really keep your floor space uncluttered. You will need the advice of a good carpenter and electrician to see what is needed before you purchase and installation. Ceiling supports and new electrical outlets are a given. Be sure you design everything first, and take into consideration all your studio needs. My opinion - Having this fantastic studio setup and then using Alien Bees is sort of like buying a BMW, and then buying a lawn mower engine to put in it. Nothing against Alien Bees - it is a quality made entry level lighting system. But if you're going to the great expense of a professional track railing system, which would have to include quality softboxes, umbrellas, other light modifiers, lots of carpentry work and electrical work, it just seems sacreligious to me to mount an Alien Bee to it. Maybe not, who knows. Michael H. Cothran

Thanks Michael, I think you're right about the BMW / Lawnmower issue. I am not ready to buy anything yet, just researching. Thanks again
