Hate to tell you but the only way is to re-shoot it in focus.

  Hi Kerry and Lyn,

Right, and you cannot sharpen it with sharpen mask in PS.

Hey Kerry what do you think of the new Canon eos 5d 13mp full frame? I hear its finally 35mm equiv. Wish I had the 3600.00, however I did just purchase a rebel xt for 500. I figure cant go wrong for now.

Sounds pretty good for a digital. However, for my "paid shoots" I'm going to stick with MF for now. However, I do have one coming up that makes digital look interesting. I have a family reunion of about 100 families, all wanting family portraits, the largest of which will probably be 8x10, maybe a few add-ons for 11x13. Gonna be a long day. If I was shooting with digital, I could just send the files to the lab and have them send the prints to the customers. As it is, I am going to have another really long day (or 2) getting them ready to send to the customers, who are fom all over the U.S. Oh, well, should be a good payday anyway.

Boy yes, it sounds like a good deal for you. I wish I could be there to split the work. Are you using 35mm film and digital also or just one or the other? I think one advantage of using digital is you can be sure youve got the capture right now. (especially where bucks are involved)

I will for sure use my Pentax 645N, maybe it and a 35mm. (Still don't have a digital.) I am trying to figure out the logistics. If I spend 5 minutes with each set, I will be there all day and they don't want that either. If I can set up two cameras and have someone help me set up the families, I think I can do it in about 4 hours. Sure wish I could get my regular price for this, sitting fee plus prints, but that sure ain't gonna happen. LOL

BTW, you got a really good deal on the Rebel xt. Way to go!

Hey John, how do you like the dimage that you are shooting your photo's with? That is what I wanted to get but bought the kodak instead, how does it compare, any ideas?

  Lyn, Im glad you asked

I love my dimage z-2, I had the z-1 first and upgraded just to get that extra mp.

Even tho Im getting into the Canon slr, Im keeping this because it really does everything. I think your kodak is similiar both having all kinds of manual functions,(assuming but I think mine has more zoom with it being 480mm equiv. Unless you have the z7590) which model do you have?

Kerry, what did you mean at first when you said you thought about sending files to the lab, did you mean negatives?

No, I meant that if I had a digital, I could just send the files and they could ship out the prints. Since I use film, I have to send the film in, have it processed, sent back to me and then I ship out the prints. Takes a little extra time but that's OK. With a wedding or regular portrait shoot, it's a lot easier as I am usually either delivering to the client or shipping to the bride. This time it will be up to 100 shipments all over the country.

Kerry, OK I getcha. I believe in you on the 35mm, cant achieve better, but man in a case like this I cant help thinking you would have instant feedback. Of course being the guru you are with film you are probably confident in what you are doing. After all, it's what you do.

Lyn BTW, on that blur issue, you realize that if you press shutter partway you will lock the focus and cut down on the shutter lag time. This may or may not be whats hurting you. With digital, you gotta be steady because of the inherent shutter lag times. Focus locking first tho will help a lot.

John, yes I have the dx7590 , I love it but it has so many different options. Yes I pressed it halfway down to lock in my focus but this picture locked the focus on the side of a chair instead of on my puppy. Its not a bad blur but I wanted it to be perfect, guess Ill have to wait for that shot again..

Lyn, try checking your metering setting. You might change it to center spot metering and then I think the viewfiner should let you put the focusing bracket right where you want it. Of course multi segment has a bracket in the view finder too, but Im speaking from my z-2. I assume the Kodak would be similiar.
