Fast lens Can anyone tell me if there is photo quality difference between Sigma 300 2,8 prime lens and Sigma 170 - 300 2,8 zoom lens and what are the advantages/disadvantages of the two. Thanks, Col.

A prime lens is supposed to be better optically than a zoom. I'm not a professional photographer so I don't know how much difference there is in quality. Here's a link to an interesting article on lenses. I thought it was particularly interesting what the writer had to say about the Canon 100-400mm IS lens. IF what the writer said is true of the Canon 100-400mm IS is true then I would expect it to be true of all telephoto zooms. I just wanted to add that before the Canon crowd gets mad at me since I'm a Nikon owner LOL.
