Photographing child/ family in afternoon light!! I would like to take pictures of a friends child for practice. But I want to take daylight photos. The park i'm thnking about has large oak trees, lots of suddle shade and then bright light. Can I take a good picture in that shade without alot of equipment of reflectors. I want a black and white natural seating picture. Help

As long as the light is not mottled on the subject, shouldn't be a problem. If it is, use your flash as fill light.

Overcast days are optimal, this will difuse the harsh light of the sun. Subtle contrast in light will register higher on film than to the naked eye. Use 400ISO and meter for the key light(the sun)reflecting off the face.
