SB600 vs. SB800 flash I'm interested in purchasing a flash for my D70. I read somewhere that a softbox comes with the 800...but not the 600. Would like to know which of these flashes anyone would recommend and why. And where would I purchase a 800 that comes with a softbox? Thanks a bunch.

It depends on what you need. The 800 has more power and a lot of other features that the 600 doesn't have. For one, the 800 can control the 600 off camera but not the other way around. However, if you don't need the extra power (the 600 is no slouch) or the other features, buy the 600 and save some money.

I MYSELF OWN BOTH FLASH UNITS BUT USE THE 800 FOR MY PERSONAL USE. THEY ARE BOTH GREAT FLASH UNITS AND ARE MENT FOR THE D70. I DO HOPE THIS HELPS, OH PERSONAL OPINION-I WOULD BUT THE 800 FIRST AND GET TO KNOW IT'S MANY FEATURES, THEN ADD THE 600'S AS FILL AND BACK LIGHTS. IF YOU ARE WANTING TO DO PORTRAIT WORK WITH FLASH UNITS(BEFORE INVESTING IN A STUDIO SET) THESE FLASHES WERE CREATED AS PART OF NIKONS "CREATIVE LIGHTING SYSTEM" AND THE 600S WILL SLAVE OFF THE 800 AS KERRY POINTED OUT TO YOU. IT DOES PROVIDE MORE LIGHT AND HAS THE OPTION OF A 5TH BATTERY TO INCREASE THE SPEED OF REFILL. HERE'S A UNTOUCHED PICTURE OF A PANDA TAKEN WITH THE SB800@ 7:50 LAST NIGHT ACCROSS THE ENCLOSURE WITH A D70 AND 300MM LENS. HOPE IT GIVES YOU A IDEA OF WHAT IT CAN PRODUCE.
