Pentax K1000 lens adapter

I have recently purchased a Pentax K1000 with a bayonet mount. I am having problems finding affordable K mount lenses. Is there an adapter that I can purchase which will allow for screw mount lenses for this particular camera? Thank you, Glenn

ebay is loaded with K mt lenses for next to nothing, there is an adapter for screw mt lenses but I beleive you lose the automatic diagram, also, you don't have to buy Pentax lenses, several mfr's used the Pentax K mt, Ricoh, Chinon, Sears, JC Penny, etc, etc

The K-mount was very popular in its day, so there are many lenses available for it. As Tom says, look for Pentax's own K lenses on auctions and at places like KEH.com. Also, Tokina, Tamron and Vivitar (esp their Series I) made excellent 90mm macros that also are great as short teles. Look also for good deals on 135's , 200's and zooms of 80-200 or so. These companies also made excellent 24's and 28's in the K mount.

That screw-to-K adapter is not expensive and is widely available. If you need such exotic optics as a 20mm or wider, older screw mount lenses from Pentax and the aftermarket folks mentioned are available. Using that adapter, you set the aperture to your shooting aperture, and meter to set the shutter accordingly.
