Photography Question

Shannon McLauchlan

online photography schools?

Hi,
I no nothing about getting into the photography business. I would like to pursue a career in photography with an emphasis on weddings. If possible, I would like to pursue this thru online courses. What are the requirements to become a photographer for your own business? Must you have an AA degree or BA degree? How do I find out state requirements ( I live in PA)? do I need a license and/or need a degree at all? Must the school be accrediated? ANY info would be greatly appreciated!
thanks,
Shannon

It's like the lemonade stand you had on the sidewalk as a kid....make good lemonade and people will buy it...you keep all the profit.
As an adult, the same applies....only you have to buy a business license. It's your business, you decide what credentials you should have to hire yourself...:-)
BP has excellent online classes!!
Read, read, ask questions, read, shoot, criticize yourself, ask questions, shoot, criticize yourself, shoot, read, read.........AND DON'T LEAVE THIS WEBSITE, IT'S THE BEST.

I really dont think that you have to have a degree to call yourself a Pro Photographer. You may need a business licence, so check with someone at either your city or county building(I think it's your city but I'm not sure). If you are just looking for a good online course, you should try one of BP's. So you really don't need any degree's at all, but it may help, even if it is just a certificate from BP(If they give them).

The biggest requirement that you must have to be a pro photographer is the ability to deliver the client the absolute best product. Photography is a profession and can provide incomes comparable to that of a doctor or lawyer. Both of those require an education. In photography, a good education can take you rapidly to the top. You can get a great start here at BP and then decide where to go from there. Best of luck!
