Photography Question

Epson v. HP printer????

Ok, I am in the market for a good photo printer. I am not doing all of my printing so I don't need the mack daddy version, but one better than the average model. Is one better than the other in printing b&w and color? Thanks

I have just bought an Epson Picturemate 500 and am very pleased with the results.

The cost of making your own prints involves, not just those related to the camera, but also paper, ink and time.

Forgetting your time, you need to concenetrate on getting good-to-great prints at the lowest cost. I love my Canon S-800 and will probably be purchasing a Canon i990 for my camera club.

The main reason - these prints have individual cartridges for each ink color. So, when a color runs out, you only need to replace that particular cartridge.

All the HP's and most of the Epson's I looked at use multi-color cartridges. So, when one of the colors runs out, you replace everything. It's a big expense. [Note, recently Epson has moved to individual cartridges on several of its printers.]

Yeah, I am beginning to think for my paid orders that I will still use a lab, the i9900 for home use and contact sheets....Thanks guys

I use the Epson Stylus RX 500, it has the individual ink cartridges. I think the quality of print is excellent. I believe it sells for about $250.00 maybe a little less.
