I'm planning to take my kids to a festivle of lights (lantern festival) here in Ottawa. I was looking at the festival web site and pictures (http://www.lumiereottawa.com/index.html) from last years event. I would like to reproduce this type of lighting...no, I would like to create something better. Any suggestions. Do I need to use a flash or other lighting tools? This Festival only comes once a year and I don't want miss a great oppertunity.

  well kevin,
i don't think flash will help,i think it will hurt the mood.the first one looks like it was after dark with a slow shutter speed on a tripod, the other three I think are right after sunset with some daylight still left.the faster the lense the better your chances will be.the website didn't list any tech info.
i saw your two panoramic sunset photos,nice,so I think you've got a pretty good handle on it.sorry I can't help you anymore,sam
