Creative Modes in 1DMKII/DsMKII
I have a 20D and would like to upgrade. I noticed that the 1DMKII and DsII dont have the Craetive Mode feature like the 20D. Do these 2 advanced model allow the same 20D feature? Dan

Dan, I think you have the Creative Zone confused with the Basic Zone. The Basic Zone has the icons for the different automatic picture modes, like Portrait, Sports, etc. The Creative Zone has the modes where you do more of the work, Program, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, and Manual. These are the modes that the advanced models have. One other mode that is missing is the ADEP, or auto depth of field mode.

Thanks Chris. No I don't have them confused. On my 20D they have AV,TV,M,P(Creative Modes) on the dial. I see in many reviews of the MKII that 1 frequent "con" is that there are not these settings available on the dial. So if not how do you allow the camera to go Tv/Av and the DMKII set the other parameters? Thanks for the info! Dan

Then the reviews you read may have had things confused. The Creative modes (Av, Tv, M, P) are the modes available on the 1DMkII and 1DsMkII. The Basic Zone auto picture modes (icons) are the ones that are missing from the top end models.

It's there. Instead of turning a dial with all the modes on it, you press one of the three buttons (the top one) on the left hand side and use the control dial to select the mode.

P.S. The 1- and 3-series bodies (film and digital) have DEP mode, which is more flexible than A-DEP.
