Kansas City Skyline--Where to Shoot?

I'll be headed to KC for a day trip. I'd like to take a picture of the skyline, or something that captures the essesence of KC.

If you're familiar with Kansas City, where would you recommend I go for a nice outdoor, landscape picture? For example, maybe it's at ??? park, looking north in the morning, to get the main downtown. Or, maybe it's somewhere along the MO river.

Thanks.

  Hi Ken!

I'll try to help. I live in Salina but lived in KC for several years. You might try shooting a skyline pic from the top of the liberty memorial. I think it's open even at night but you might check. The Liberty Memorial is downtown. All the other locations I know for good skyline shots would involve parking your car alongside the road and risking your life to get a good photo. NOt sure if you want to do that. If you're looking for the essence of KC, you might also try shooting some nice pics down at the plaza or at Crown Center. KC is known for their beautiful fountains and there are a lot in both of these locations. The Union Station would also be another pretty place for pics.

Hope that helps! Do you live in Kansas or just visiting?

Julie

Here's a shot from Liberty Memorial to give you an idea. Hope it's not too late.

I can't figure out how to upload it since they've changed the format. I'll try one more time.

Hey Sharon, that's a great picture!!
I think Julie and Sharon have gave you excellent locations. Union Station is incredible inside as well as out. I haven't been able to get there to reshoot since I've purchased my new camera since there is major construction going on now and it's hard to get downtown from the northland. If you do manage to come north of the river there are some really pretty nature spots to check out. Let me know if you are interested.

I live in Omaha, NE. My Father-in-Law lives in KC

My camera EXIF says I took it at 1:15 p.m. on 5/31/04. That sounds about right too. Yes, I'm not in KC but I don't live too far from the city.
