cotton vs cotton/poly white muslin I am looking at buying a white backdrop for my home studio. I have white seamless paper at the moment, but need something easier to switch out. I see both 100% cotton muslin and also cotton/polyester muslin, which is advertised as wrinkling less. I would like it for high-key baby/child shots and prefer the least amount of wrinkling, since I will probably be switching between it and a black drop on shoots. I prefer the smooth effect on my shots. Any opinions as to what works best? Does anyone have a company that they recommend? Thanks.

HI LYNN, I HAVE THEM BOTH- THEY ARE QUITE DIFFERENT. I BUY ALL OUR MUSLINS FROM STEVE AT: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZskaeserbackgrounds THE COTTEN MUSLIN IS HIGH KEY. THE POLY IS NOT AND I USE IT MOSLY FOR A FLOOR FOR THE WHITE MUSLIN(IT IS VERY STURDY) YOU CAN USE IT AS A BACK DROP , IT IS JUST NOT AS WHITE. IF I CAN FIND THE EXAMPLES LATER I WILL POST BACK. I AM BEHIND ON MY WORK TODAY-HAVING TO MUCH BP FUN - AND AM CHECKING IN ONLY BECAUSE OF THE NEED FOR MY OWN QUESTION TO BE ANSWERED-I NEED HELP!!!

Thanks Debbie I just wanted to say thank you for answering my question so quickly. Can you get an almost seamless-type effect (without a lot of the wrinkles showing through)when the muslin is pulled tight across? Thank you so much.

interesting that you mentioned flooring with the mirror look. I have been wondering what it is. I was thinking possibly "splash board" wasnt sure if this would be sturdy enough. If any one knows or has any ideas i'll be watching. thanks!

SORRY, I FORGOT TO POST THIS LAST NIGHT. GREG, TOLD ME IT IS JUST LINOLIAUM TILE BOARD- AND IT COMES IN ROLLED SHEETS ALSO-BUT WHEN UNROLLED YOU HAVE TO USE SOMETHING TO HOLD IT DOWN SO IT DOES NOT BUCKLE. FOR A EVEN HIGH GOLL COVER THIS WITH PLEXIGLASS.

when you use a streched ultra white, there will be a little left on the floor-cover it with the tile -butting the tile right against the backdrop there should not be much of a seam to be seen. but if nesissary I geuss so.
