How to eliminate shadows

I use a Nikon D70 and for lighting I have a JtL 300D. I have a problem with shadows in my shoots. I did a shoot recently where one picture was fabulous and the other 50 were good pictures but there was a shadow behind the subject. In another shoot this week, the pictures turned out perfect. What am I doing and what can I do to improve this situation? Thanks!

  Sherri,
Try moving your subject farther away from the background, and raising the light source some. This should make the shadow fall down and get hidden behind the subject, instead of having it project onto the background.

Experiment until you find an arrangement that works.
