Photography Question

Charging for an assignment

Hi,
I was asked to shoot some exterior shots of a Science Center in my home city. It is a big building, It sounds like they are going to want exclusive rights to 5-10 medium format images. I am going to have to rent the equipment, etc.
This will be my first assignment of this kind and I don't have an established "day rate", etc. so I have no idea what to charge for this assignment. I would love to know what some of you would charge as well as your advice.
Thanks a lot!
Kevin

Since you are competing in the professional arena you should be charging at least $100 per hour plus your expenses. Give them the exclusive rights as there is not much you can probably do with them. Just make sure they are the only ones who can use the images, not the architect, builder, etc. They need to pay you if they want to use the images.
