Pictures Without Grain

I am having a problem with my photos coming out grainy. I shoot with a Nikon D70 SLR, a 28-100mm Nikkor Lens, Hoya UV & Circular Polarizer Filters, and use Nikon Picture Project Software to upload and adjust color, sharpness & brightness of my shots. When Id on't do any adjusting, the pictures come out fine, however, I would like to be able to adjust for more precise color, sharpness & brightness. Any suggestions please??

All I can suggest is use a lower ISO, and that might help.

Funny, I just changed from 400 to 200 about 5 minutes ago. I will try this.

Thank you Brendan!

It helps to use RAW and not to underexpose as well.
