Photography Question

Barbara Helgason

Why not limit the monthly number of entries?

Did they really recieve 18000 entries last month? I'd love to know how many judges there are. I'd also think it would be a great idea to limit the number of entries a month, so that we all have to be a little more choosy about the photographs we enter.

There is only one, and she's getting bleary-eyed from looking at so many pictures!

I agree with limiting the number of entries per person each month. If you want to upload an image for critique or comments only....that can be fine as long as there is a section for contest only entries vs. critique type uploads.

With 18,000 entries this month which only seems to grow every month I don't possibly see how the judges can fully view each image that is entered. With far less entries each month I think it will be an easier task for the judges in total time...and would give them more time to really look over and compare all the entries.

I don't see why the membership would have a problem with limiting contest entries per month. It would insure that their entries have a better chance of really being looked over well by the judges.

I'm not saying the judges are doing a bad job at all....but I can not imagine that 18,000 contest entries really get the attention that each one deserves during judging!!

I like that idea. I finally entered one into the contest, strictly to get the critiques.

Old idea that brought up much whining about not being able to narrow down one's own choices to the best three. Which brought about the one per day method.

Actually may have been the best 5, but the point is the same.

Quick search, it was 10 per month that some people were so upset about. That was when there were around 14,000 for a month. But the site likes to be flexible, so it's an idea that can be revisited. And would be a good idea if needed. All people would have to pick their best, and 10 shouldn't be difficult.

I can not understand why people would get so upset about having to narrow down to 10. I personally never have more then 10, but then again I dont have too many good photos either! lol But seriously 10 per month every month is alot of pictures and I think this contest is so great anyways, not to mention free, and how many other contests like this allow 10 entries to begin with! I think it's crazy to have to look at 18,000 entries. Doesnt even seem humanly possible! And like someone mentioned in a previous post, it makes it SO difficult to go through and look at other peoples pictures and comment on them because it gets so overwhelming to see all those entries. I enjoy looking around at everyones photos, but lately there is just too many!! And Heather's right, the number grows every month. Hopefully more people will post on the contructive critism forum instead of uploading to the contest for those photos they only want critiques for, but I doubt it will make that much of a difference given the 18,000 we had this month!! Well, those are just my opinions. No one has to listen to me, though!
:o)
