  Caiti,

You should've known that I would give your first BP response so here it is.

I noticed in your Bio that you're taking your Photojournalism class next year so take full advantage of this being that it will give you so much to learn about film photography. Anyways I also looked in your gallery and your Cannon shot is really good, you have a great eye for photography, especially being 14! A lot of guys here will say that being 14 you have so many more years to get better than they did! Haha, anyways any good photographer can vouch for me saying this, that the more you practice the better you will get if you use the resources given to you and the advice given from the experts. Just stay positive and keep your head up! Practice practice practice. Also, there's a girl in here named Elizabeth Coachman who's about your age who is also really good. Maybe chat with her and find out if she has any advice for the younger photographers like us! Best of luck my lil' sis!

V/r

Justin

I looked at your gallery and I noticed that you sometimes use photoshop. I found that books with tutorials on CD are a great help to learn how to use the software better. Doing the tutorials works better for me than just reading. Also, look for books like "Photoshop for Photographers" by Martin Evening.

As far as the rest of photography goes, you are definetly on the right track with taking a class. I think you'll be impressed at how much you learn.

My final word of advice . . . keep visiting this site! I learn so much from looking at the contest entries and galleries!

  Caiti,
I just want to say Welcome!I am sure we will enjoy having you around and chiming in , as much as we enjoy your brother. And Justin it was fun to get a peek at you and get to put such a nice face with the wonderful
conversation we have:-)
and my friend with such a lovely bride you have no lack of subject matter.
Caiti, I think I will tell you the same as I do others- it is great to take all those courses etc. but the things you will learn just trying different things-with out boundries of what others teach ,is pricelesss!
So , listen to big brother and practise!
and look at quality photography mag.s(such as photography mag) & books look at the pictures you like
(in those types they usually print how the photographer took them)and copy them- then play with those images you like and make them your own-this will help your eye and get you comfortable with the difference settings .
I love your fireworks 1- and justin she wants to give you a run for the better canon photo, lol
very gald to have you both,
Debby Tabb

Debby thank you, you're always so kind. Yes yes I know she outdid me on the canon. I'm proud of her. You'd think that since I shoot Canon, I could shoot a cannon. (du du chssshh). haha. Caiti, listen to Deb, she knows what she's doing.

Caiti, welcome to BP. It sure is nice to have people my own age here. I'm 14 too - mentally that is. Physically I'm so far over the hill I can't even remember what the hill looked like. I do remember that Moses and I crossed it together. Glad to see an interest in photography runs in the family. You do have a good eye for photography. Just listen to big brother and he can teach you a lot. Oh, and tell him his bride is a lot prettier than he is. So are you. Enjoy your stay here.
