carry a card chart with multiple exposures or bracket, watch out for highlights and wait till the sun gets a little closer to the water. What looks like a inch above the horizon is usually my best

I would also suggest, for the sunrise shot, that you either take advantage of the bottle in the foreground or move a little closer to remove it. If you use a wide angle lens you could get that bottle right up close and in focus with the sunrise behind it. I'm just a beginner though, so my advice is to be taken with a grain of salt :)

Thanks guys, im really not familiar with anything photography, I seem to just pull these shots out of nowhere, so im not sure what a card chart even is, what is it? thnx

Instead of taking a picture at night to create the black background take the photo during the day with a black piece of cloth or board behind it. Your lighting will end up a little better.
