Anyone with a Sony Hvl-f32x Flash - HELP! Hello, I have a Sony F828 camera and I need a flash bracket and a flash cable for this camera and the Sony Hvl-f32x Flash that I have. The cable that came with it is sooooo short, there is no way it will reach anything on a bracket. I am going to be doing a wedding and desperately need to know where I can get these items. I know there are a lot of camera mega - super stores that seem like they are all in new york and so far in my experience, when I have spoken to any one at one of those stores, all they want to do is push products - who cares it its the right stuff!! so I am really hoping someone out there that owns one of these cameras can tell me where to get what I need! thanks!!

I don't think Sony makes an Off-Camera Shoe Cord that connects to the hot-shoe, and I wouldn't count on Canon's, Nikon's, or a simple generic to match the pin and communication used by the Sony. The cable that comes with the flash plugs into the camera's ACC (accessory) jack. I could be wrong, but I believe that connection is a standard 2.5mm stereo sub-mini jack/plug. So it should be a simple matter of inserting a stereo extension cord between the flash's connecting cord and the camera. Most stereo extension cords are for the larger 3.5mm jacks, but I found this one (sorry, no picture) at Mouser Electronics (www.mouser.com). Part #172-2533, it is 3 ft. long, which is a little long for your application, but can be coiled up and secured to your flash bracket with a twist-tie or rubberband.

P.S. I said "no picture," but there is an illustration of the extension cord at the link in my prior post: click on the "Manufacturer Data Sheet" link in the "Catalog, Technical, & General Information" box.

thank you for your reply. I really have no idea what I would need so you have been very helpful. Is there anyway I can look at my camera and tell you any other information to ensure that this is going to be the item to fix my problem? I really need to get something asap as I have a wedding I sm shooting the 25th. THNAK YOU!!

Not any more I can do. The only thing is to verify my suspicion that the male jack on the short flash connecting cord that you have actually matches the 2.5mm stereo (not mono) sub-mini jack. The specification page of the camera manual only gives the plug/jack diameter as 2.5mm. It's possible it is designed with more connections than the standard stereo jack/plug. I'd take the cord to a Radio Shack or other electronic supply store, and compare the jacks to make sure the Sony uses the standard and not a proprietary design.

Oops. minor technical correction - where I'm saying "jack" in the last post should be "plug." The male end is the plug, the female end is the jack.
