Music copyrights
Here is my question that is not directly about photography, but please help if you can. If I was to make a DVD slideshow for a customer of their pics I took, can I legally add music from a CD, or is that a copyright no-no? Any thoughts?

I'm not an expert on this, but as I understand, if the CD music was owned by your customer, it would be OK, because they have the right to copy it for their own use. But if it is your CD music, it is not legal. Maybe you can find more info at copyright.gov Vince

Legally, no, you can't use it, regardless of who owns the CD. Realistically, the powers that be don't care. I know professional videographers who have tried to get written permission to do what you want to do (and to pay for the right) but they can't get it because the fess due are not worth the paperwork costs of collecting it.
