Photography Question

Michelle Mullen

Best class for a beginner

I want to take an online course but not for sure which one to take. I am a beginner and really don't know much about the photography language...apeture settings...shutter speed and so forth. I do have a digital camera and 35mm camera. I have always enjoyed taking pictures but never knew how to really take a picture. PLEASE HELP!

I would like to offer a suggestion on one of the pictures in your gallery. On the reflection shot, if you had gotten both the tree and the reflection, it would have been better. In fact, it would have been a really good photo. I like reflection shots. Keep asking questions here and you will learn a lot from the nice folks on this site.

Hello Michelle: Thank you for your inquiry about BetterPhoto courses!

We have a nice lineup of Beginning classes, here’s how to proceed:

First, go to the Course Categories Page - there's a link at the bottom of the list of courses on BetterPhoto's home page, but here's the direct link:

http://www.betterphoto.com/photocourses/categories.php

Second, pick the category that best fits your interests. As per your email above, I would suggest looking at the great Beginning Photography courses.

Third, simply click on any class that looks promising. Finally, be sure to read the course description, as well as the Course Outline and the Questions and Answers sections (there are links to both at the bottom of each description page).

Hopefully, this may answer your questions. But if not, feel free to e-mail me: heather at betterphoto.com.

Thanks,
Heather Young

  Hi, Michelle..
I've taken several classes here at BP. The first was Beginning Digital with Susan/Neil Silverman (they are fantastic, and always there either online or by phone). Besides learning photo basics, I also learned a whole lot about what my camera could (changed cameras since then) do.
But, when in doubt, email the all knowing and seeing Heather...:-)

Bob

Thank you Kerry, Heather, and Robert for your responses and suggestions. Also, thank you Kerry for taking a look at my reflection photo and giving me feed back. I will try to re-take the picture with your suggestions. Again...thanks so much!
