Photography Question

Donna Rowley

choices for zooming

Hi everyone,

I've recently been given a minolta dynax 7000i and am enjoying a new enthusiasm for photography. While I'm enthusiastic I won't pretend to know the first thing about the technicalities.

I've got a 28-70mm, the standard 50mm and a 70-210mm zoom. These are great but now I'd like to get a little closer to my subjects and am confused - should I go for a converter or buy another lens?

I'm interested primarily in wildlife but also take lots of pictures of racing motorbikes. There are lots of second hand lens available and if this was the best option is a 70-300mm really going to make THAT much of a difference? Should I be heading for 400mm? I really don't know the pros and cons of the choices open to me but I'd be grateful for any advice!

Thanks!

Donna

  Hi Donna,
My camera equipment consists of a Minolta Maxxum 5 camera, with a Tamron 28-200mm lens.
If your budget is a problem I would suggest acquiring a 1.4 teleconverter,or a 28-300mm lens to cover the range of two of your lenses.
A prime lens - 400mm or larger can get expensive.
