BLURRY RECITAL PICS

We are new to the digital photography. We bought a Sony Cyber-shot 7.2 mega pixels Dsc-P150. We took pics at our daughter's recital last night and all the pictures are blurry no matter how still we held the camera. We were in the front row. Please give us some pointers.

Posting a sample photo would help.
Are the pictures out of focus, or is it motion blur? Motion blur is the result of a shutter speed too slow to freeze either the motion of the subject and/or camera shake. Setting higher ISO value will give faster shutter speeds, but with the trade-off of more digital "noise".

Using a flash can help to freeze motion if you are close enough to your subject to use it.

Thank you for your quick response. I have submitted an example. I have no idea what my camera is set at or even how to do so...like I said. I am very new to this! Thanx for any suggestions you may have!

Also if you have a shutter priority mode use that.

Your manual will tell you a lot. Assuming your recital was indoors, you want your ISO at least 400.
I also have Sony cameras and they take a lot of practice to handly motion very well. Just keep trying and you'll get it right. Read your manual before you shoot much and it will give you some ideas on how to proceed.
