Info on hand-held light meters

Hello!

Black and white photography is a hobby of mine, and I have recently decided to purchase a hand-held light meter. I use the Zone system most of the time, and I would use this light meter for all pictures: still life, outdoor/indoor, action, etc...

I have a pretty high level of math anxiety, and I know that some math is involved when using most hand-held meters. That said, is there any product out there that is basically idiot-proof that will meet my needs? I am looking to spend $500.00 or under. Thanks for any light you can shed on this issue (excuse the bad pun).

Julie

The Sekonic L508 is awesome. A spot, incident, and flash meter all in one. Not to mention weather proof. I use and love it. Its available for under $500. They now have an updated version with a few improvements (L608 I think). But the last retail price I saw was around $750. Of course it probably sells for less.
