Photography Question

Steve Fels

Developing problems?

I have recently taken up photography and the shots I take are absolutely stunning (most of them would win BP competitions), however when I get them back after being developed they are either out of focus, or the exposure's wrong, or part of the subject's head is missing, on one they had somehow managed to get an image of my finger over the lens. Does anyone else experience these problems with getting there photos developed??

Is there a June's Fools Day, or is that just April?
Well it might be a joke but I'll give an answer anyway. Focus-you focused wrong most likely. Exposure-could have printed to light/dark, but check negatives and see how they look. Based on the other things you've said, I think it may be something you did. Heads-you again most likely. Finger-they don't have individual fingers at labs that can get misplaced over the printer lens. That, like the other things, is you. Most likely.

Kerry Walker is a film photographer.

Well the same thing has happend to me on one of the things you said, sometimes they cut the pictures wrong and then you end up with peoples head cut off, or it could be that you did it when you took the picture.

Steve - you are not alone.

There is definitely a conspiracy at work here.

This finger over the lens, did it appear to have any Wendy's chili on it?

Were any of these absolutely stunning photos taken from a grassy knoll in Dallas?

Trust no one. The only truth that you can believe is that Kerry Walker is indeed a film photographer.

I didn't realize that maybe that is why my shots aren't as good as they should be. I am a beginner and I always thought it was me that messing up my shots, now , I know! Seriously, the reply on some stores cut off heads because they cut the paper wrong surprised me,I didn't realize that the people who one minute is stacking diapers and the next developing your photos that you worked so hard on ,could make mistakes like that. They are trained to do developing and they certainly wouldn't mess up any pictures.I guess that I will take mine to a photo lab from now on but, then I wouldn't have any one to blame then.
Just having a little fun. I loved the question. And also, I am glad that Kerry is a film photographer, and by the looks of his gallery ,,does good work too. You have a good day .

Thank you all for your responses and advice... I must add though, the other day when I picked up some more of my pictures I was suprised at how quickly my skills have improved, all of the shots were in focus, the colours were beautiful, a masterpeice each and every one......Then I realised...Damn!! they have given me somebody else's film back again.
