Photography Question

BetterPhoto Member

Is liberalism a mental disorder

According to Micheal Savage it is. He better becareful before someone steals his cameras. He wants me to shoot his next book coverafter recieving my gift photo from the Bay bride. He is really relaxed compared to his talk radio style

First, I'm a faithfull listener to Micheal Savage and completly agree with him. Second, get you're grammer straight and elaborate on this Bay bride gift. I seriously doubt that he really wants you to shot a book cover. Because, he could hire a pro to do it, and don't tell me you are especially if you have to pretend to be noname Paul.
Yes I was reading that question about PS. Also what does this have to do with digital photography?!?!?

  LMBO! Yea, yea. Whatever.

If he does small piece of advice. Focus on the EYES. The EYES need sharp, clear focus in any portrait. Your Mark II is up to the job, but it's only as good as you are.

Remember, focus on the eyes.

Thats hilarious, thats supposed be the bay bridge not bay bride. I wrote Micheal that his second to last book photo wasn't very flattering and that for free would do some shots and then go for a drink. Well I don't know if he worte it himself, but said to come to SanFran, meet with the producers and we'll go from there. He ended with "be here or be nowhere."

My advice now that you've booked the gig:

(a) Tell him it will be an all day shoot . . . about 8 hours.
(b) Tell him also the going rate for that is 10 G's.
(c) Plan on a 1000 frame per hour burn rate that would generate 8000 frames, but don't even let on you're planning this. If you have trouble figuring out how to burn that much that fast, call your bud that does and ask him how to do it.
(d) Start the shoot as planned. Somewhere into the first hour I guarantee he'll offer you another 5 G's on top of the 10 G's he's already paid to stop. Out of all the billions of pixels you'll have by that point, you'll also undoubtedly have a good cover shot . . . in less than an hour . . . and for 50% more $$$ than you originally set the rate.
(e) As a fringe benefit, you should also end up with billions of pixels for the portfolio you so desperately need . . . of someone who is quite recognizable and famous. In Orange County, CA, his image should go over with your potential customers quite well: "You know Savage ???". Guaranteed to make a strong impression and win you more business than you might otherwise.

---------------

For anyone else reading this, you'd have to have read some of the other threads here to fully understand my recommendations.

First you depart from a studio without a portfolio, now you miss a golden opportunity to leverage some $$$ to pay for the expensive car, jeans and sunglasses out of a gratuitous print.

Friendship is friendship, but business is business. Nevertheless, a pro bono gig it is. It will give you some practice at the pro bono work you've mentioned thinking about doing before.

If he is such a great guy that's worthy of a top drawer shoot pro bono, he'll give you a conditional release that allows you to use his image in your portfolio (with celebs, this is required). Business is still business; hold your line on this firmly. No release, no shoot, and he aint' no great guy no more.

And for Heaven's sake, don't blab about doing this pro bono when it's Miller Time and you're hanging out with the rest of the guys down at the F-stop swapping the latest war stories about saving entire weddings from rampaging Bridezillas. They'll never let ya live it down and you'll be the butt of their jokes for years to come.

actually my photo equipment cost more than my car, but that will change soon enough. Ive just started my own Gig this year and put a down payment on a house. Everytime I start to look at a new car my eye catches some new photo equipment, but Im almost maxed out on that. Unless of coarse, if I studioize a room in the house.

And hey Brendan, when I shoot Mikey and let every one know, then I'll be brag'n

  John,
I think Orange County, CA is where Jerry Frazier, an actual real-life wedding photographer lives.

I think No-name-slick-justin, the fashion-shooting-boss-suing-overworked-rapid-fire-wedding-photographer-without-a-portfolio, lives in Hawaii. With his "Mark II" that he's Oh so proud of.

  Chris,
Gee, I thought he was just chillin' on the beach there soaking up the rays in his jeans and shades, giving his shutter release finger a long-needed rest before returning to the grind and having to deal with all the rest of the guys after work down at the F-Stop who give quarter to no one about any slips or gaffes (they are clairvoyant about anything that goes wrong).

very good Chris, yes thats a wedding I did on Hawaii recently. I wish I could live there. Maybe someday I can buy a vacation home there. I live about an hour away from OC. Don't know any Jerry Photographers, too many at the expos to go around and meet them all

If I run into you someday, don't take it the wrong way if I don't shake your hand. It's not that I'm being rude. Rather, I just have no respect for you.

Cheers,

Do you remember Jerry now? He's the one you argued with recently about RAW vs. JPEG. You even started a new thread "just for him" and kept rambling until he finally called you a schmuck and tried to ignore you.

Maybe your memory just isn't so good.

Don't know where I got the crazy idea that you live in Hawaii.

The following posts were all made from the account that all of your various aliases have used.

The 4th best wedding photographer on Hawaii has told me that the Mark2 makes better 20x24's than her hasselblatt(which is now a paperwieght) so much so that they have 2- mark 2's.

Ignore him?

By him, I am referring to the super-photographer with multiple personalities and shoots celebrity photos for free, shoots 40+ weddings a month in California, Hawaii and Mexico, but quit and sued his former boss and doesn't have a portfolio to show potential clients, has photos of brides and models, but can't/won't use them cause 1. judge's decision neither he nor his former boss can use them or 2. has the model release, but doesn't think the bride/model would appreciate the pictures on the web or 3. afraid someone might use(steal) them without permission.

WTF is a model release for if not to allow the photographer to use the picture?$&%*^(^*#$!@#%@#^$*)^(*$#!!!!!!!!!!!

IF someone wants to use a 500pixel 72dpi image for any thing... not worthy of printing. Only web use would be practical. If they use it without permission and you catch them...

Where are my hip waders.. it is getting deep...

all of that didn't happen in the order you presented. It all is true, just don't feel like writing a book about it. And I only use photos if I have too, so why chance it here. If you were all paid photographers like the other forum I spend most of my time on. Then I might trust it, cause they could reproduce the shot themselves

And what forum is that, specifically? What name do you use there, just in case we wanted to look you up?

You don't need to write a book, you just need to tell the truth once in a while.

Bottom line, Justin, I don't believe a word you type.

I don't believe you spent 15 years shooting fashion models.

I don't believe you shot 11 weddings in April, or that you bounce around between California, Mexico & Hawaii shooting them.

I don't believe you've made jaws drop with your JPEG vs. RAW samples.

I don't believe a judge decreed that neither you nor your former employer could use your mixed photos.

I don't even believe you own a Canon 1d Mark II.

I DO believe that you're a small time photographer with big time dreams - and there's nothing wrong with that.

The problem is that you keep making up lies and exaggerations to try to impress people.

I DO believe that in addition to this account where you keep changing your name, you have also posted from an account called Lynn Boyer, and Paul, also. You and Lynn both think there's a camera called a Miyama. It's Mamiya.

You have some growing up to do, Justin. I've decided to call you Justin, because out of all your different names, I think that one fits.

My wife is a teacher, and when we were looking to name our first child, we had to eliminate names of former students she didn't like. Her sister, mother, and grandmother were all teachers too, and they all agreed that every student they had ever had named Justin was a huge pain in the butt.

  Anyone else see any inconsistencies?

2/26/05
I shopped around and got my mark2 for $3200 - brand new

3/01/05
I guess you could shoot at the highest JPEG, but I've noticed that when I shoot, so that I record a RAW image and a JPEG my Raw image is cleaner. But I have the M2 and that shoots faster in RAW then most.

3/01/05
got some pics up at your request, these were shot with my first 2.0 fuji fine pix. Can't wait to shoot my first wedding with my dm2

3/05/05
I have the Canon M2 and I can also use fine pix to look at my info
Aloha
Steve

3/10/05
The 4th best wedding photographer on Hawaii has told me that the Mark2 makes better 20x24's than her hasselblatt(which is now a paperwieght)

3/22/05
a couple months ago I worked with a pro who used the d20 for a fashion shhot. works very well in low light
I have the mark2, but my back up will be the d20 for $1500

4/01/05
Wedding Photographers: What Do They Charge? I've heard they charge anywhere from $1000 to $3000 (in their pocket) for a day's shoot. I saw a wedding package the other day for $20,000 (included 50th anniversary shoot).

4/01/05
Most wedding photographers use flash, but I use an assistant for the lighting
Heavy duty flashlight with rice paper over the lense, ta-da continuous light

4/01/05
D20 is an excellent choice and if you can the Mark2 is the bomb

4/10/05
Should I buy Nikon or Canon?

4/13/05
Lynn Boyer -- hey what about Miyama, the best darn film camera out there.

4/23/05
Bought Canon, ready- aim- FIRE!!!

5/09/05
Besides, I shot 11 weddings last month (thats over 10,000 pictures),no time for that. Better to spend more time marketing and getting new clients.

5/10/05
With all the down payments coming in just to hold the date, I put a down payment on my first home.

5/15/05
How can I get a wedding with out a portfolio?

5/25/05
Justin -- He shoots mostly film (miyama), but decided by looking at my shots to get more into his D cameras which he uses as toys.

These are just a few . . . there's more.

WOW Chris. Hows the daily P.I.Job coming (lay of the donuts). I don't see one thing I made up. It is all true and happened in the span of around 20yrs, but Im not going to give you a timeline. Got my camera online from some crazy nut that would only sell me the body and nothing else. So I bought some lenses and he threw in the box. I dont have a wide angle, fish eye or macro

Did the crazy nut sell you the body and no lens, or the body and no accessories?

If you did have a "Mark2" in February, why on April 10th did you start a thread saying that you were shopping for a camera and trying to decide between Canon or Nikon?

I really don't care if you answer these questions or not. I certainly don't expect you to admit to any of your fabrications or exaggerations - it's just not in your nature.

Do you think anyone who has been around here a while believes you? I'm not talking about Lynn Boyer, either. You don't need to worry about trying to gain any credibility. Just cut the bull.

If you have an actual honest question, post it. If you have an actual honest answer for someone else's question, post it. Drop the rest, we don't care.

Chris, I agree with you on you're last post. I just got back from a camping trip, and before I left (I can't remember which name you used, because you have so many of them) I know you weren't "What it". So if that's all true, then why do you need to keep using different names. Becasues we all know you're lying, and like Chris said you're probably someone that wishes it was true, and there's nothing wrong with that, but you really need to cut all the bullsh*t.

Justin the change to Ed, is like the third name you've used on this thread. The reason you get along with women, is because you can probably con them(no offense, women do it to us too), but we can see right through it. You said you can't take our attitude? I'm a 14 year old kid and you can't take my attitude.
Justin you really need to cut the shit, because nobody beleives you, and I'm reporting you to Betterphoto management.
