why doesn't anyone use a picture of themself There is a professional service and forum that I use for $200 a month and everyone uses a picture of themself as a mini-pic. I know some people have it in there BIO's, but why not make it more personal. By the way thats me yawning , yeah I know, I need a haircut

My mini-pic depicts my demeanor,... Quiet, placid, content,...but ready to strike when provoked. ;)

I guess for the same reason we all use fake names and change them every few days. Oh wait, we don't all do that. I gotta get some sleep. The arthritis in my Kung Fu Grip is acting up again.

How would you even know anyone is using their real name anyway. Thats like me saying Im a African American, but without being born in africa. Who cares, If your American then your American. Are you a Europeon American? Are you a photographer or do you just like taking pictures? Unless you want to meet me then I see no reason to breach security

Funny that this question would come from someone who uses dice as their mini-pic.

Me, too...I however, AM using a picture of myself. Ok, it may be how I picture myself in my own little world, but it's still me! (You wouldn't believe what my real world is like for me to take it this far.)

Personally, I don't use myself as my minipic because I don't really have any pictures of myself that I like. I won't until I get an interesting one at least. People are also self-concious about themselves I would imagine, so if a picture seems unflattering in anyway, they will avoid it. Some, especially those who shoot film, would not like to waste film on themselves. Also, Just taking a picture of yourself without putting massive amounts of thought into it would be a waste of time for many. Especially making it interesting. Also, I think putting your real name is something that backs up what you think of your pictures and is more personal. This website is definitly not something that you would just go to if you wanted to socialize. It's something more personal than that. It's not like "surferguy82" wants to know how to use his new digital camera, it's "Johnny E. Smith(insert real name here)" who is looking for something more. Or of course, the professional photographers who have their website for their business. They wouldn't be taken seriously at all if they didn't use their real name. Even anybody else who didn't use their real name wouldn't be taken seriously.......I think you know what I mean.
