Flash meters

What's a good flash/ambient meter that's in exspensive. Some of this equipment is over priced. By the time I get all my equipment together I'll need to invest in a digital camera.(smile)
I prefer one with the LCD screen. I love to shoot inside portraits and have been doing manual calculations. Everything is fine except I stil get shadows. I want to invest in another light but need a good flash meter.

Jyan, I know how you feel. I'm in the same situation. Have you tried Porters.com? They have a nice selection of flash meters. I think the one that I was looking at was $185 or something like that, but they have less expensive ones. This meter will do ambient and flash metering (I figured that I may as well get one that can do both). I still have a few more pennies to save before I can make a purchase. :-)

I am a novice but I agree with things being over piced. I have found a lot of stuff ,believe it or not at yard sales and especially estate sale. That is if you are still using a film camera. You can find digital stuff also.I have bought a few things on ebay. As,to you having to go to digital, I dont think I will,, then I will in a few years be the only one with a film camera ,,ha ha,,think of the novelty,, showing the kids how it was in the OLD days.

That's funny Paul. But being able to show the kids how it was done in the old days could be fun. I get a big kick out of pulling out my old vinyl records and my kids have no clue as to what they are for and better yet, when I tell them what they are, they still don't understand how they fit into the CD player!

That is funny,,how to fit them into a cd player. With the telephones that send pixs ,,pretty soon,, all they will know is that ,,and when they see a regular photo,, they won't know what it is, maybe it won't get that bad.

I dont know what your willing to spend, but SEKONIC makes a great meter for around 220.00, model L-358.
