Please see my question and answer entry titled 'best explaination for model releases' I believe that this might help. You can find a link there that will help you understand what you can and can not do with photos that are taken with and without a models release and compensation.

  Ivan,

I usually always shoot people.

I always ask first.

If you are on privite property than I would ask.

Like if you wanted to shoot a person at a barn I get my model lined up and ask the owner of the barn if you could use it.

Hi Ivan, I am not sure that I understand what you are asking; however, if you need to know what you may shoot generally (as opposed to for a contest or something of that type) I can only tell you how it works here - the United States. You may make a photo of just about anything that is public access - meaning a public building; a home from the outside on the street (you need to ask permission to shoot on someone's property) a garden that is open to the street (in front of someone's home for example); a school, post office, public building - something like a town hall, school, police station, fire station or library is a public building along with national icons such as monuments, the White House and most government buildings -again, from the outside. Insides of government buildings may be restricted because of security concerns, but you can always ask. You may shoot photos of anyone who gives you permission to do so. I also sometimes use unknown people in landscape shots but I shoot in such a way that you cannot identify the person. (from the back or at a distance works). Basically, as far as I know, you can shoot just about anything you want, as long as you do not go onto private property or into a restricted area. If you plan to enter your photos in a contest or to make money from the sale of your photos the rules are a little stricter. I hope that this helps.
