length and type of telephoto lens I want more telephoto capability for wildlife, esp. birding, and athletic events. I was thinking about the Sigma 170-500, but have general concerns about the specific lens, maker, zoom. I had an old Vivitar 70-210 that drifted out of focus when held pointed downward that makes me worry about zooms in general. Are zooms better now? I'd rather have the ability to compose that a zoom offers. What's the reviews about that 170-500? Would you recommend another? Should I go higher than 500?
