lense adapters Are lens adapters usually problematic? I recently purchased a K-mount to M42 for my old ricoh kr10 super and have had trouble with the shutter sticking. It only happens when I use the adapter. please be patient with me, I am very much a novice photographer!

Since I, like you, am a novice, I need more info regarding your situation in order to have a clear picture (no pun intended). Are you mounting a lens by Brand X onto a camera body by Brand Y?

When I attach my telephoto lens to the adapter, the shutter will stick closed after I take a shot. It will release after I remove the lens. Any ideas??

Oh, I am trying to mount a cheap Focal 200mm zoom lens to the Ricoh KR-10 Super body.

I don't know if Ricoh makes its own lenses for its camera bodies, or if there's another lens maker who is paired with Ricoh bodies by agreement between the two companies. What I doubt -- correct me if I'm wrong -- is that Richoh makes its bodies so that any third party manufacturer can supply the lens. Manufacturers want consumers to buy all of their interrelated products as part of a package deal; the reason for this should be obvious. Pursuant to this goal, manufacturers treat the exact technical specifications of their products as proprietary property known only to them. This means that third party manufacturers can at best only integrate their independent products into a proprietary package deal by general approximation; they can't get the real specs on the products they're trying to coordinate with. These products are usually cheaper, but you run the risk of degraded performance and possible equipment damage.
