Is there REALLY a difference? I was wondering if there is really a difference in the CDs we should use to burn our images. I mean is one brand better than the other? I've heard that Kodak and Verbatim are the best. But I've had a hard time finding them! If I should be using them instead of another brand..than can anyone tell me where I can buy them online?! Thanks! Dar

I've used at least a dozen brands of blank CDs, many of them generics. maybe I've just been lucky, but I've never found a bad brand or even a bad batch. I'll maybe have an error in 1 out of 50 discs. The brand that I've used the most is Kypermedia, which is pretty much a generic. A while back, OfficeMax kept putting stacks of 50 or 100 on sale for $10 plus a $10 mail-in rebate. So the discs were basically free, all I'd pay is sales tax and a stamp. I stocked up, and last time I checked, I'm down to about 400 or so on the shelf. Whenever you burn something important to a CD, you should check the option to "Verify files after burning". Most CD burn programs have this option. This way, if there is any problem with the CD, you will know right away. As long as you are careful handling and storing them, they won't go bad, or develop errors later on.

DVD's are now just as cheap as CDs. CDs have 720MB of storage where a DVD has 4.8 GB. If your shooting high quality jpg or raw, you'll appreciate the extra storage of a DVD.
