Photography Question

Linda

best camera for ebay pictures

I HAVE A FUJI MX 1200 WHICH HAS WORKED FINE FOR ME, BUT I RECENTLY PURCHASE A NEW COMPUTER WITH WINDOWS XP, THE CAMERA DOES NOT WORK WITH THIS. I AM IN THE MARKET TO PURCHASE AN INEXPENSIVE, BUT FUNCTIONAL DIGITAL CAMERA THAT WILL TAKE CLOSE AND CLEAR PICTURES FOR EBAY. I HAVE NOT A CLUE AS TO WHICH IS BEST...THERE ARE SO MAY CAMERAS OUT .
ANY HELP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION AS TO WHAT TO PURCHASE WOULD BE APPRECATED.
THANK YOU

  Linda,
If the MX 1200 is still working for you, you don't need to replace it. You can purchase an inexpensive card reader. Then you just remove the Smart Media card from the camera and pop it into the card reader to transfer your pictures to the computer.

You want to look for a card reader for "Smart Media" cards that plugs into a USB port. There are bunches of these available on eBay. You should be able to get one for around 10 bucks with shipping.

THANKS FOR THE QUICK RESPONSE. BUT I ALREADY PURCHASED THE SMART MEDIA CARD READER , THE PICTURE CARD I HAVE IN MY CAMERA IS A 4MB-3.3 AND THE CARD READER WILL NOT READ THIS. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS??
I AM OBVIOUSLY NOT CAMERA "SMART".
THANKS AGAIN!!

I've never done much research on the Smart Media format, because all of my digital cameras have used Compact Flash cards. I know some older Compact Flash cards were not USB compatible. I'm not sure if that is the problem with your card, or if the problem is with the reader.

Does Windows XP recognize the reader when you plug it in? If you give me some more details, I might be able to figure something out.

  THANKS AGAIN CHRIS,
WINDOWS XP RECOGNIZES THE READER, IT JUST WON'T READ TO DOWNLOAD MY PICTURES.
SOOOOOO , I WENT TO THE SAKAR WEBSITE AND FOUND THAT SINCE MY CAMERA IS AN OLDER MODEL AND BEFORE THE CARD READERS BECAME AVAILABLE. THE CARD READER WILL NOT READ CARDS WITH 2MB, 4MB AND 6 MB. I HAVE 4 MB. SO I AM THINKING IF I GET A 64MB, MAYBE THE READER WILL WORK. I HAVE EMAILED THAT TO THE SMART MEDIA CARD COMPANY AND SEE IF THAT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. WHAT DO YOU THINK??
AGAIN THANKS,
LINDA

Buying a newer card solved the problem I had with older CF cards, so it would likely solve the problem you are having as well.

You should be able to get one pretty cheap. CompUSA has a 64MB SmartMedia card for $15.
