Karthik M. Siddhun		Hello Priya, 1.It would be great buying a small digital camera as First Camera (lesser price than SLR),before getting high price with many functions. As you can practice taking different snapshots, over & over again in different angels.( you are not wasting the film). You get to know many small mistakes what your hands do(hands shake). Then you can aim for a good SLR . Even Nikon F55 or Canon EOS 66 ( I found it is better as Canon has more compatibility lens than nikon). But Both have got all the extra features, tentament to each other. Samuel Smith		priya, go ahead and buy a stupid point and shoot,digital,for backup!the slr you choose,film or digital,is not that expensive.it's the lenses and such that cost the money. if you can't overide the camera settings,you are not going to express yourself.digital ,even though you can delete the pictures,is no less expense than film.as far as the brand you pick,tou will not lose any image quality!! most of the time,your camera and your familarization with it,will give you the picture you see. sam.
