March Finalists I am taking some time viewing past enteries today & have come across over 7 that people are saying congrats for being a finalist... I do not see a finalist button on them nor do I see any where on the main page or contest page of March finalist... anyone tell me if I am missing something or where I can locate the March finalists??? thanks... I am looking at photographs of people I have viewed images of in the past... so when I click their gallery I go in and look at photos they have submitted in the past that I haven't had time to view... and the some that where submittied March 2005 people are saying congrats on being a finalist... hey you think your confused I am like... what what not one of my duckies made it... LOL so confused... sigh Jill :)

LOL Bob... I have a thing for ducks & birds... I really do photograph other things just always seem to want to show off my ducks...LOL enjoyed viewing your gallery too... is hard sometimes you would like to comment on everyones work but never enough hours in a day... I try to comment at least on 25 a week... but see at least 100 a week that are beyond excellent... well hopefully someone that is not confused as all of us will read this thread and let us become unconfused... LOL Jill :)

I really remember reading that March finalists would be announced by April 15, and that April by May 21. Do they send you an email confirming if you are a finalist? This is wild, all this waiting for the finalists! LOL I wish they'd hurry up and post!

Well, while we're here waiting.....I've been trying to think of something to shoot for the contest that we haven't seen before (within reason)...we've seen nudes/turtles mating.....any ideas that you'd like to share? I sometimes take my camera into restaurants and just set the camera on the table pointing at a chair or the ceiling (if it's interesting) set the timer, push the button and see what turns up...

Ok Ok... I got a tip... LOL no I am not going to tell you where you can view the finalists... someone I think stumbled on the addy to the finalists page... were some of the finalist are already there in the I believe landscape area... but they are not posted for viewing and all though we all hate the waiting it is our job...LOL so just like everyone I am sitting tight and waiting am sure it will be posted by tomorrow if not this evening... it says finalist will be posted by April 21st... so lets just hold tight... and if they are a bit late over that date please try to understand what they go though trying to view each photograph... if they went fast your best shot might be over looked so give them the needed time... now another suggestion I have is back when they were making changes they wanted to take the entry number down per person to like 15 a month but so many seemed not to like that... although it's nice to get to post a picture every day it would be worth revisting changing the amount of photographs one person can enter a month... I for one think 10 to 15 a month would be great on both ends... anyone else feel this way... is so why? if not ... why? Jill :)

Personally, I can only manage about 10 or so a month. I really had high hopes for a couple from last month, tho. But now that it's gettin' on spring/summer and the good shooting times are getting skimpy....considering the hours I work...anyway, this thread was fun..:-) Bob

I don't know about you Robert, but whenever I see something really different and photo worthy, I don't have my camera with me :-p However, I did get a camera phone which is always with me - just in case I see that UFO...LOL - hey, maybe that should be a monthly theme - camera phone pics HA - my phone buttons always get pushed by accident and I end up with photos of the inside of my pocketbook.

It seems as thought the traffic on BP has picked up since they started offering free galleries....I think there were over 17,000 entries in March! That's the most I've seen since I've been a part of BP!! I enter a photo almost everyday...it's addicting...not all my images are contest worthy, but I like sharing with the friends I have made here! I don't know how I would feel if they made the change to onl 10-15 entries per month.... And as for your question, Bob, how about tulips?!? :) Okay, now I'm going to go relax and anxiously wait for the finalists to be posted!

I am glad that I am not the only one that finds this addicting Mellanie! I have had a lot of fun this past month since I found this website. I was hoping that my "Objects in morror..." photo MIGHT get noticed but I haven't gotten an E mail. Maybe there is still hope? It doesn't matter, it is still fun and I am learning a lot too! the finalist picks are not done yet... they are not even half way done... so you may still have a photograph that is in the finals... it's 7:34pm here Bob... and Brinn not sure who would send you an email telling you congrats yet... but someone stumbled onto the addy where they start posting the finalist as the go along... so it maybe that person has seen the finalist that have so far been selected... well anyway I have looked at all stuff & it's very nice work... keep it up... it may not all win a place in the contest but that by no means doesn't mean it isn't good work... so keep shoooooooooooting... I also had seen others making comments on congrats but looked at the home page & contest page and there was nothing stating the finalist had been choosen... so I asked on a couple of the picture threads people were commenting congrats on and two of them emailed me and explained that (no names) so and so had stumbled along the addy with the finalist being choosen... she thought all of it was done but then when continuing to view she realized that it was not finished not even half way... so she stop posting the congrats until it is listed on the main page and on the contest page... and it will be soon... hold on... and remember it's not just about winning its about getting to be better at your craft and with as many great photographs that get entered it's easy for the judges to over look sometimes very good work or just not have enough slots to have them all be winners... Thank you, Candy, for viewing my gallery and for your kind words. ...I made a few great friends at a photo site. Some are also on this site... (this is the only site I use now for the time factor) They are also super photographers whose help and support helped me tremendously to improve my photography..., but I still have a long way to go... and I know I will never catch up with them..., There are times I thought I would give up,but I kept on tracking... :D Thanks again.

Boohoo! LOL I so thought I had at least one finalist in my entries this last go-round. Does anyone know if you pay for a gallery does that give you more of an edge into the finalist circle? One could hope, heh? I'm seriously thinking about getting a premium now. Oh, so far three of the finalists were ones that I commented on early when they were posted! Congrats to all of them!

Jules, What you get for placing the finalist is the thrill of being selected in the finalist. No prizes... I was very happy when one of my images was selected in the finalist. I don't mind saying that it took me a while to get to that point. I was and am still a part time hobbiest...

i also feel kind of out of my league here.. not from what anyone has said but just from looking at the photos.. in another photo discussion group tho, I put a bunch of pics in the provided gallery, no discussion.. accidentally put one in the contest and got an immediate letter saying my pic was not "contest worthy", so they moved it into my album.. in that group you cannot enter a pic into a contest until a certain amount of members have favorably commented on it..

I agree with Debbie! I've seen many finalist that have no comments or very little. The judges do not rate a shot by the number of comments or the name of the photographer. My only thought on that comment is maybe it wasn't sized correctly. You can contact Robin to find out why they made that choice! Keep on entering and read the how and advice section, listed next to enter contest!
